4. OTDR Measurement

After successful splicing, the fiber optic link is checked with an OTDR measuring device. A launch cable should be used for this, in order to be able to check the entire fiber route if possible (dead zone).

VIAVI offers several different devices, we would like to introduce 3 of them to you here:

SmartOTDR: Compact and very price-efficient device with permanently installed modules. Suitable for technicians who carry out identical installation and maintenance work. The device is available with 1310 and 1550 nm or 1310, 1550 and filtered 1625 nm wavelength.
MTS-2000: Compact device with one module slot. Numerous measurement modules are available for all fiber measurement applications.
MTS-4000: This OTDR has 2 module slots and a significantly larger touch screen. Due to the large display, a more detailed curve display is possible and the 2 module slots make it even more flexible when it comes to measuring applications.

VIAVI SmartOTDR E126 / E136 / E138

Smart OTDR optimizes the inspection of optical networks. The automatic analysis function is practical and easy to understand. It combines all important optical tests in one device such as B. visual breakpoint detection or optical power measurement.
