The Pier optical line termination (OLT) shelf, part of Harmonic's cOS™ broadband platform, streamlines network design to deliver high-speed internet even in hard-to-reach areas. It's a rugged, one-rack-unit device serving thousands of subscribers, working with Distributed Access Architecture Switches (DAAS) switches like Harmonic Wharf and Jetty to cover long distances with fewer infrastructure points.

Pier supports XGS-PON, Combo PON, and GPON standards, offering options for new and upgraded networks. High-power XGS-PON optics extend reach to 60km, and dual-density PON optics serve two groups from one port, reducing equipment and space needs in dense areas.

Its modular, stackable design scales for apartments, small sites, and large hubs economically. Harmonic’s cOS software manages and routes efficiently, ensuring low power usage, scalability, and quality-of-service. This Emmy Award-winning cOS core software supports Pier, Harmonic's node-based OLT modules, and Remote PHY devices, enabling high-speed broadband deployment with minimal operational complexity across diverse networks.

Support for third-party ONTs and ONUs ensures access to the latest consumer equipment and gateways for operators.
